Although not a requirement,
we encourage applicants to seek other types of funding or in-kind
services. Matching funds or in-kind services must be directly related to the project and can only
be earned during the life of the project. A match may include the following:
* Volunteer hours. (Volunteer hours are calculated on the basis of $13.25 per hour)
* Cash from non-federal sources, your organization, city funds, foundation grants.
* Professional services (Professional services are in-kind matches and may be calculated at
fair market value for such services.)
Q. Who can apply for funding?
A. Applications will be accepted from community-based
organizations, educational institutions,
Civic and neighborhood
associations, block and garden clubs, environmental/conservation
organizations, youth groups
and other non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organizations.
A. In order to be funded by UFC, a project must meet the following criteria:
1) Be located on public land in the District of Columbia;
2) Address a natural resource environmental problem or opportunity;
3) Provide a public benefit;
4) Include some trees
5).Provide educational
opportunities.
A. The following is a
list of items and/or services that cannot be purchased with UFC grant funds:
* Food or beverage
* Land acquisition
* Building construction equipment
* Playground equipment
* Tree or stump removal
* Research/Scholarship
* General Maintenance
* Vehicles and other motor operated equipment
* Private Property graffiti Removal
* Planning studies or curriculum development
* Salaries
* Annual Plants & Tree
