UNITY FELLOWSHIP CHURCH MOVEMENT
GOD IS LOVE AND LOVE IS FOR EVERYONE!
Founded in 1982 by Archbishop Carl Bean, the Unity Fellowship Church Movement (UFCM) is an international movement of churches working together to facilitate social change and improve the lives of those who may feel less than welcome at their houses of worship. At any Unity Fellowship Church, we take to heart the words “God is love and love is for everyone!” Our primary work is to proclaim the sacredness of all lives, focusing on empowering those who have been oppressed and made to feel excluded and ashamed. UFCM brings the message of God’s unconditional love and the principles of liberation theology to often ostracized communities. UFCM opens its doors to all of God’s people, especially those fighting for social justice. The churches within our movement offer those seeking to worship God, in spirit and truth, a place to come just as they are.
MISSION STATEMENT: To be a faith-based congregation that nurtures and proclaims mutual respect and the sacredness of all life. We confidently proclaim, teach, and empower members of the GLBT and affirming communities through scriptures and other sacred writings. Through social action, we will empower, educate, and stand for those who have been oppressed and rejected.
VISION STATEMENT: To introduce to some, affirm to others, and enhance for all the validity of God in all life.
UFCDC | God Is Able
Unity Fellowship of Christ Church of Washington, DC (UFCDC) has been preaching and teaching that “GOD IS ABLE” to the DC, Maryland, and Virginia communities since we opened in 2002. Archbishop Carl Bean and UFCDC’s Founding Pastor, Elder Rev. Dyan Akosua McCray established UFCDC in the Unity Fellowship Church Movement (UFCM) in 2002. UFCDC preaches and teaches hope, the power of love, and unity to the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) community. UFCM and UFCDC have been advocating for social justice, faith, equality, and love for all of God’s children, regardless of orientation, gender identity, age, or other ways in which society continues to marginalize them.
